It also includes a tire pressure monitor, battery voltage, trip odometers, and engine oil-life monitor. Standard on the Z06, and optional on Coupe and Convertible is a head-up display, which projects selected key vehicle information onto the windshield, thereby preventing any distraction to the driver and allowing him to focus on driving.

| Driving Impressions |
|
| Awe-inspiring driving dynamics |
|
| The Corvette is offered in an RWD configuration, which improves traction during heavy acceleration by placing the vehicle’s weight on the rear i.e. driven wheels.
The Coupe and Convertible come fitted with a 6.0L LS2 V-8 engine, which produces a maximum of 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque. The Z06 gets power from a 7.0L LS7 V-8 engine, which puts out an impressive 505 hp and 470 lb-ft. of torque. Both the engines deliver incredible power and acceleration for in-city as well as highway cruising.
The short-throw 6-speed manual transmission, standard on both the engines, offers crisp, fast shifting. Along with a light clutch effort, the shifter allows for lighter, faster shifts. The 6-speed Paddle Shift with automatic modes is optional with the 6.0L LS2 V-8 engine and offers total driver involvement with an automatic transmission. It has two modes to choose from: S and D. In the S mode, steering wheel controls allow the driver to upshift or downshift for optimum performance, while the S or D mode allow normal automatic operation without using the paddles. The Corvette is maneuvered by a speed-sensitive, power rack-and-pinion steering, which offers crisp and prompt responses on all kinds of road conditions.
The Corvette rides on a four-wheel independent suspension including transverse composite springs. The Coupe and Convertible feature a short/long arm (SLA) double-wishbone suspension with forged-aluminum A-arms and transverse composite springs. The Coupe and Convertible are offered with three choices for suspension: the standard suspension, the Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and the Z51 Performance Package.
Magnetic Selective Ride Control adjusts shock-absorber damping in real time by means of electromagnetically charged particles contained within the shock fluid and instantly responds to changing road and driving conditions. It has two settings to choose from, Tour and Sport.
The Corvette Coupe and Convertible are equipped with four-wheel disc, anti-lock brakes, while the Z06 features four-wheel disc, anti-lock brakes with six-piston calipers in the front, four-piston calipers in the rear and cross-drilled rotors. All brakes empower the Corvette to come to an immediate, smooth halt without screeching, when the brake pedal is pressed. All Corvette models feature an all-speed traction control, which gives them added stability in difficult or slippery driving conditions.
All models are also equipped with Active Handling, an electronic combination of traction control and anti-lock brakes working through microcomputers, accelerometers, and stability sensors. Active Handling compares driver steering input with actual vehicle response. If required, it uses individual wheel brake application, the traction control system, and available Magnetic Selective Ride Control to maximize the driver’s ability to maintain stability and stay on track.
With a turning diameter of 39.0 feet, the Corvette can be steered in and out of tight spaces without much of a problem.

The Corvette also features a standard tire pressure monitoring system and a theft-deterrent system including a push-button start, an immobilizer, and an audio/visual alarm. It is also available with the option of OnStar, including a one-year safe & sound plan. OnStar is an in-vehicle safety and security system created to help protect the driver and passengers on the road. OnStar's innovative three-button system offers 24-hour access to expertly trained and caring advisors, a connection to emergency assistance, and access to OnStar hands-free calling.
